Chain-mail-forest-clearing-table, is the latest commission for the Cypher BILLBOARD in Bounds Green.
American Artist, former Haringey resident, now based in Canada, Newby has produced a new graphic work, part illustration, part mind map and part word document.
Born in 1979 he received his B.A. in Sculpture and Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002, an M.F.A. at the Glasgow School of Art in 2009, and a PhD at Kingston University's Contemporary Art Research Centre. Exhibitions include: Brick-Wall-Spider-Web-Post-It-Note, Beers London; Yo Compro Calidad, Matadero Madrid; Soft Formalities, University of Kent, Canterbury; Tetracontameron, solo exhibition, Space In Between Gallery, London; Le Club des Sous l’Eau at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Interior 301, Galerie Alain Gutharc, Paris; Art + Chips, MOT International Project Space, London; has recently been artist in residence at AVA, Hong Kong; Matadero, Madrid and URRA, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Arthouse Foundation in Lagos, Nigeria; and awarded a Pollock Krasner Foundation grant as well as the Converse/Dazed & Confused Emerging Artist Award shortlist in association with Whitechapel Gallery as well as attended the Triangle Arts Trust’s Triangle France Artist in Residence Programme. Participated in the New Work Scotland Programme with Amelia Bywater at Collective Gallery, Edinburgh and presented solo exhibitions at Transmission Gallery and SWG3, Glasgow and Vitrine Gallery, London. Upcoming exhibitions/projects include Public Knowledge at Camden Art Centre as part of the artist collective/research group We Are Publication.
